South Pennines Park Awards: Creative Champions Winner

We are pleased to spotlight another of our winners from the South Pennines Park Awards.

Huddersfield Literature Festival
were named Creative Champions.

Huddersfield Literature Festival is an annual festival involving more than 50 events. It promotes both the rich artistic heritage of the region through poetry, literature and non-fiction writing at outdoor and venue-based events within accessible spaces in Huddersfield.

It also presents multi-arts events, combining dance, music and poetry or film, bringing inward investment to the region and increasing visitor numbers.

The festival is also committed to reducing its carbon footprint, and organisations work with people with mental health challenges, vulnerable older adults, and actors with learning disabilities.

Charlotte Furness, Marketing Manager for the Festival, accepted the award on behalf of the organisation.

She said: “It feels fantastic to have been named the winner of the Creative Champion category. The team work so hard and we really try and push the boundaries of society and literacy. We are so grateful that our hard work has been recognised.

When asked what’s next for the committee, Charlotte said: “Start planning for next year! We are motivated to make next year’s event even better. We’re working hard to keep events hybrid so they are accessible to everyone.”
